1. Pahalgam

Pahalgam is one of the major tourist destinations in Kashmir, which has been a much thronged destination for directors as well. Even a valley in Pahalgam – Betaab Valley – is named after the 1983 movie Betaab that was shot there.

Some of the other movies that were shot here include Haider (2014), School (2005), Highway (2014), and Jab tak ha Jaan (2012), Raazi (2018) and Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2015). The famous Qawwali of Bajrangi Bhaijaan was shot in the Ziyarat of Ashmuqam and the emotional ending was shot in the Baisaran valley of the Pahalgam hill station

2. Gulmarg

Apart from being the major tourist destination of Kashmir, Gulmarg is also a famous shooting destination. The vast and green meadows and valleys of Gulmarg is a favorite cinematic representation.

The famous shots from the 2015 movie Phantom were shot in the bewildering valleys of Gulmarg.

3. Sonmarg

Located in the central district of Ganderbal in Jammu and Kashmir, Sonamarg is a famous tourist destination. This place is literally known as the meadow of gold and Bollywood has not been shy in showcasing this as a representation of what gold lies in Kashmir.

4. Mughal Gardens

Some of the famous movies that were shot here include: Kabhi Kabhi, Ye Jawani ha Deewani, Janwar, Aradhana and Haider. Mughal Gardens are also the much anticipated venues to shoot songs of the movies. Some of the famous songs that were shot in Mughal Gardens include “Kora Kagaz tha ye man mera” from the 1969 film Aradhna, “Tum se acha kon ha” from Janwar and “Ye Ishq ha” from 2007 movie Jab We Met.

5. Dal Lake

Some of the major movies that were shot in and around here are: Mission Kashmir (2000), Lamhaa (2010), Notebook (2019) and Haider (2014).
Apart from movie shots, Dal Lake also has seen the romance from some of the Bollywood greats like Sharmila Tagore, Shashi Kapoor, Shah Rukh Khan and Shraddha Kapoor. Some of the famous songs shot in Dal Lake include: Ye Chand sa Roshan Chehra” from Kashmir ki Kali, “kabhi kabhi mere dil main” from Kabhi Kabhi and “Likhe jo Khat Tujhe” from Kanyadaan.

6. Gurez Valley

Gurez Valley is one of the offbeat locations in Kashmir which remains inaccessible during the winters. This pristine valley had managed to hide from the cinematic eyes of the Bollywood but so far two movies that were released had been shot in this beautiful valley. They include Raazi (2018) and Shikara (2020).
