One fine summer morning, we decided to go on a trip to Gulmarg. As much beautiful the Hill Station is, we even as locals couldn’t stay away for long, despite being so near. So, we left for Gulmarg around 8 in the morning.
By 10.30 we were knocking at the entrance of the great hill station that was going to be our abode for the next two days. We went to a local eatery and enjoyed a cup of fresh Kahwa with Local Kultche. Then we went on to visit the world famous Gondola. We rode Gondola for both the minutes after a couple of hours we were at the Apharwat peaks. From there, we took a small trek of 3 kilometers and paid our tribute to the beautiful and mighty Alpather Lake. This fresh water lake had not melted completed but wasn’t yet free completely. Staying there for quite some time, we planned to come back to Gulmarg for lunch.
After having a beautiful outdoors lunch overlooking the vast meadows of Gulmarg, we planned to go on some horse riding and made it to Strawberry Valley. There, apart from enjoying some wild strawberries, we let ourselves loose in the vast valley that is yet untouched by the tourists and is dubbed as the Hidden Gem of Gulmarg. Staying there till night, we decided to come back and make our camp for the night. After eating at a local restaurant, we went on to sleep in our respective tents.
We ended our journey with a spiritual visit to Baba Reshi where we enjoy the roadside Halwa and Paratha. Towards the end of the day we were done with all of the major places but were not ready yet to let the beauty estrange us again with its absence.
